Almost November!! Where has the time gone?

  It has been very busy in the gardens the last couple of months.  The garden students have been keeping the hotel gardens maintained and tidy during the wedding season.  Lots of work have gone into keeping main lawn presentable and pathways tidy for the many ceremonies we've had and functions.  We made some comfrey tea fertiliser and nettle fertiliser.  Seeing as we have so much comfrey growing around the grounds we put it to good use to make our own fertiliser.  You have to cut the leaves of comfrey and nettles and put them in a bucket of water for two weeks.  After the two weeks you can then strain the liquid and put into bottles, ready to use diluted as a plant liquid fertiliser.   Only trouble is, it is very smelly when it is ready!!!! So we did have lots of fun and holding of noses when preparing the liquid into bottles. Here is our finished product.  We have used the fertiliser to add good nutrients back to pot plants and hanging baskets.   Students have been learning how to
